My first adventure in blogging

I've seen so many blogs that I have decided to add a new adventure to my life. I hope you will enjoy seeing my progress of learning to master this new art of blogging.
I read a challenge this morning from a lady that I admire. Terri Johnson is a homeschooling mom
with 11 years and counting; as well as a wonderful business to add to anyone's homeschool!
I want to answer one of her challenges today. It is a review on Amazon.com for a book that my children and I absolutely enjoy each year that we have read it. "A Child's Geography : Explore His Earth." by Ann Voskamp
This book has opened the world to us is such a wonderful way. The first time I opened it; I had the sense of almost stepping off of a plane and being greeted by new found friends. My children and I started reading page after page with such enthusiasm! We got to the end of the first chapter and our hearts were turned to a country we had never known before. It was Turkey! We have been totally hooked on meeting new experiences of food, friends and cultures. the exploration of our world globe has taken on a new meaning for us. Checking out our "Field Notes" was nothing short of amazing! I watched my children look at the globe as the newest adventure of their lives. ( I have to say if you've never seen your child light up from understanding something they never knew before it is the most wonderful thing to see!) My younger children wanted to draw a map of Turkey while my older ones filled in the "Profile" of Turkey. Each section only takes a few minutes and yet so much is learned.
If you've ever wondered where to start teaching geography from, I highly recommend "A Child's Geography : Explore His Earth." ( just a side note. My children ranged from 15 to 2 yrs old when we first opened this book to learn of our earth. We are still just as enthusiastic as we share it with our friends and fellow homeschoolers now.)
